Dr. Chapman, Director of Spine Service at the UW Orthopaedics and sports medicine, was elected to the AO foundation Board of trustees for a 5 years term.

The Board of Trustees, comprising 90 leading orthopaedic, trauma, spine and craniomaxillofacial surgeons, as well as specialists for hand, foot, shoulder, pelvic and veterinary surgery from around the world. This reflects our multispeciality character. The Trustees act as AO ambassadors for our philosophy of early restoration of function in their institutions and regions. They are expected

• to take on a pioneering role to disseminate innovative AO techniques
• to remain open to new ideas from young enthusiastic surgeons and inventors

They also ensure that the AO philosophy will be understood worldwide. Each Trustee serves for a limited number of years to ensure a constant rejuvenation of this Board.
