Common Diagnoses Treated:Common problems treated include shoulder and elbow pain, stiffness, catching, popping, locking and instability with arthroscopy or open techniques to repair Bankart or labral tears, remove loose bodies, manage / treat instability, impingement and rotator cuff tears; management of arthritis with arthroscopic, minimally invasive, conventional and reverse total joint arthroplasty or hemiarthroplasty; also the treatment of more rare conditions such as scapular winging and failed surgeries with tendon transfers and revisions.
Philosophy of care/General Information:I believe that successful medical or surgical treatment and rehabilitation requires a team approach, with the patient being a key player. I will provide patients with the current information to help them make an informed decision regarding which type of treatment to choose.  Then together we will make the journey through the treatment and rehab.  If there is a viable way to manage a condition without surgery, we will try that first.
Clinic locations and days of week:Bone and Joint Center (BJC) near the University of Washington Monday Mornings and Fridays
Eastside Specialty Center (ESC) on the east side of Seattle Thursday afternoons
Appointment request information (web, phone, fax):University of Washington Bone and Joint Center - Phone: 206-598-BONE (2663) or Eastside Specialty Center: (425) 646-7777 or the online referrals website
Surgeries Performed At:University of Washington Medical Center and the Roosevelt Outpatient Surgery Center
Research Interests:Ultimately I am interested in helping find the best treatment and rehabilitation regimens for different conditions which will minimize the patients pain and recovery time. This takes a stepwise approach.  With rock climbing as hobby, I currently have a particular interest in investigating different arthroscopic knots and the latest generation of high strength sutures.  I am also committed to being the best teacher I can be, and discovering time-efficient methods of teaching the art and science of orthopaedic surgery to students.
