Philosophy of care/General Information:

Douglas G. Smith, M.D., is on staff at Harborview Medical Center, University of Washington Medical Center, and Seattle Veterans Administration Medical Center in Seattle. He also serves as professor of orthopaedic surgery at the University of Washington in Seattle.

Smith serves on the Research Committee of the Foot Care Council of the Americal Diabetes Association and is a board member of the Orthopaedic Rehabilitation Association. His accomplishments include developing footwear to prevent diabetic foot ulcerations and directing a prosthetic research study dedicated to advancing function for the amputee and preserving the limb at risk.

After graduating with a bachelor's degree from the University of Notre Dame in Notre Dame, Indiana, Smith received his medical degree at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine in Chicago. He completed his residency at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Illinois.

An interview with Michael J. Lee Dr Lee is an Assistant Professor in spine surgery who specializes in degenerative conditions of the spine. He has a particular interest in newer surgical technologies, including minimally invasive approaches to the spine, and disc replacement surgeries. He graduated from Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago IL, and joined the University of Washington faculty in 2007. Read More
